F.A.Q.
(Frequently Asked Questions)
| Question | Answer |
| My ancestor was in the 2nd SC, can you tell me... | The 2nd SC had an orderly book where recruits names were put upon entering the unit. Patrick O'kelley has transcribed the Orderly book to Modern Printing, it is entitled Unwaried Patience and Fortitude: Francis Marion's Orderly Book, it is available from Amazon.com. If the orderly book does not contain the names then the only other place I could recomend is the state archives to see if they have any muster roles. |
| Will you come talk to my school? | Sure with enough advance notice, send an email to the Events Coordinator, that would be Ron Crawley (roncrawley@schistory.net) |
| Where does the crescent come from? | The second son inherits the moon, Edward Rutledge had it as his symbol |
| Do you sleep in those tents? | Yes, even if its raining/snowing, with straw, and they are comfy (thank you). |
| What do you do on a weekend? | Arrive, set up camp, breakfast, drill, lunch, battle, share stories around campfires, breakfast, drill, lunch, battle, take down camp, leave. |
| Why do you do this? | Really most people get started in this hobby for many different reasons. Some have a keen interest in history and want to try and experience some of it first hand. Some like to go camping and this provides a way of doing it with planned activities. Some just want justification for buying a new flintlock. Others had family members in the war and think of it as a way to connect with them. While we all came for different reasons, we all stay for one, we like the people we meet while doing it. |
| Where do you get your clothes, gun, etc? |
